Patna: The state govt is setting up dedicated day-care centres for hemophilia and thalassemia patients at six major medical institutions across Bihar, offering free blood transfusions, regular diagnostic tests and distribution of medicines as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare services. The centres are being established at PMCH in Patna, SKMCH in Muzaffarpur, JLNMCH in Bhagalpur, AIIMS-Patna, GMC Purnia and ANMMCH in Gaya. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive treatment facilities for hemophilia and thalassemia patients under one roof.According to a press release issued by the information and public relations department (IPRD), the centres will be equipped with modern medical infrastructure and advanced technical facilities. Health workers will be deployed round the clock to ensure uninterrupted patient care.Officials said the project is part of the govt’s broader push to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across Bihar, including the capital and other districts. Construction work is underway at the identified institutions in North Bihar, Magadh, Bhagalpur and Patna regions. The day-care centres are expected to reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside the state by making specialised care available within Bihar, officials added.
