Nagpur: The District Bar Association (DBA) election has entered a decisive phase, with all nominations for its top two posts cleared during scrutiny, setting up a multi-cornered contest for both president and secretary.The race for the president’s post features six candidates, including former office-bearers Nitin Deshmukh, Prakash Jaiswal and Manoj Sable, along with Rajesh Nayak, Tarun Parmar and Sunil Lacharkar. The presence of experienced candidates is expected to influence voting patterns, though alignments within the bar remain fluid at this stage.For the secretary’s post, five candidates are in contention — Anil Gulhane, Amit Band, Ashish Shende, Nitin Rode and Ashish Kataria. Election officials confirmed that all 11 nominations received for president and secretary were found valid.The election process began with the publication of the final voter list on March 30, followed by the distribution of nomination forms from April 1. The last date for submission of nominations was April 7. Candidates are allowed to withdraw their nominations until 5 pm on April 9. The final list of contesting candidates will be published on April 10, which is expected to provide a clearer picture of the contest.Campaigning will be permitted only for a limited period after the final list is released. With just two days available for canvassing, candidates are expected to intensify outreach within the legal fraternity.Polling is scheduled to be held on April 24 between 10am and 5.30pm, while counting of votes will take place on April 25.
