Coimbatore: The Coimbatore city municipal corporation (CCMC) inaugurated an exclusive help desk and service centre for its workers on Thursday.The single-point grievance redressal centre has been established to ensure timely redressal of grievances related to ESI, EPF, UAN, insurance, accident benefits, pension and resolve queries related to workers’ salary. Workers will now be spared the hassle of approaching multiple offices, which was resulting in delay and hardship. As many as 10,000 people employed by the corporation, including permanent and contract employees, sanitation workers, those who work in schools, bus stands, parks, and data entry workers will benefit from this service centre. Thippampatti V Aruchamy, chairman, Tamil Nadu Sanitary Workers Welfare Board, inaugurated the centre at the corporation complex on Dr Nanjappa Road. Speaking at the inauguration, Aruchamy said, “This is the first such help desk for sanitation workers in the state. It will ensure faster grievance redressal, and they can also get details on welfare schemes.” The service centre will function from Monday to Friday, between 10am and 5pm, with dedicated staff including a nodal officer, liaison personnel and help desk assistants. The city corporation had employed five computer operators on a contract basis.
