New Delhi: A 28-year-old man, along with seven minors, was apprehended for allegedly shooting dead an 18-year-old in northwest Delhi’s Azadpur last month, police said on Thursday. The accused had planned the attack to avenge the murder of an accomplice, but ended up killing the teen instead.The incident took place on Feb 22 near the main gate of MCD colony, where Ishant had gone to attend a wedding. When police reached the spot, they found him lying in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries. The victim was taken to a Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Seven empty cartridges and four live cartridges were recovered from the spot. A motorcycle without a number plate and the victim’s scooter were also found abandoned there. A case was registered. After evidence was duly corroborated, Mohit Pal (28) was identified and nabbed. Mohit, a habitual offender, was involved in six criminal cases pertaining to attempted murder, robbery, snatching and theft. During interrogation, Mohit said that the group met at Bhalswa village and hatched a plan to kill one Narender, an accused in the 2024 murder of Mohit’s accomplice Deepak, who was expected to attend the wedding after he was out on parole. However, when they could not find him, they shot Ishant, believing him to be associated with Narender.
