Kanpur: The PG Academics & Career Council (AnC), Students’ Gymkhana, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, organised an insightful session titled “Global Research Opportunities: Fellowships, Grants & Collaborations” here. The event was conducted in collaboration with Vigyan Bharati and featured an expert talk by Sanjeev Kumar Varshney, former head of International Scientific Cooperation at the Department of Science and Technology.The session commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Raghvendra Chaudhary, Faculty Advisor of the PG Academics & Career Council who outlined the council’s vision and key initiatives, emphasising its commitment to supporting postgraduate students through academic orientation programmes, career guidance sessions, research discussions, and fellowship awareness initiatives to enable informed academic and professional choices. Prof.Sunil K. Misra, general secretary of Vigyan Bharati (Brahmavart Prant), highlighted the Swadeshi Science Movement initiated in 1991, which led to the formation of Vigyan Bharati, and elaborated on its extensive network across premier institutions such as IITs, CSIR laboratories, universities, and schools.Delivering the keynote address, SK Varshney elaborated on the significance of research and presented a comprehensive overview of national and international funding opportunities available to students and early-career researchers. He discussed prominent national fellowships offered by agencies.He highlighted prestigious international fellowships and scholarships.
