Noida: A 60-year-old security guard was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman inside a residential society lift in Sector 78, police said on Tuesday.The accused allegedly assaulted the woman around 8pm on Monday when she returned home from work. Police said the woman had entered the lift to go to her apartment floor when the guard allegedly followed her into the lift and sexually harassed her before she managed to exit.She immediately informed her family and later approached the society management. A complaint was subsequently lodged at Sector 113 police station.Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 75(1)(i) (sexual harassment) of the BNS and arrested the accused. He has been sent to judicial custody, an officer said.During the investigation, police found that CCTV cameras inside the lift were not functioning at the time of the incident. They said the allegations are being verified through other evidence and witness statements. Police said strict action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.The incident has raised concerns among residents, who have demanded improved security measures and regular maintenance of surveillance systems to prevent such incidents in future.
