Nagpur: The South East Central Railway (SECR) achieved a milestone in freight performance during the financial year 2025-26, carrying 261.25 million tonnes of cargo, generating more than Rs30,410 crore in the process, said SECR Nagpur divisional railway manager (DRM), Deepak Kumar Gupta, on Thursday.This marks a 3.18% growth over the previous year’s 253 million tonnes, significantly contributing to Indian Railways’ 1,670 million tonnes nationwide.Non-fare revenue jumped 57.64% to Rs4.10 crore while parking earnings surged 98% to Rs1.65 crore. Commercial initiatives such as the operation of 10 special or parcel trains (34 trips), introduction of new services like the ‘Bharat Gaurav’ tourist train, and full digital ticket checking with Automatic Ticket Vending Machines and Station Ticket Booking Agents boosted efficiency and passenger convenience.Senior divisional commercial manager (Sr DCM) Dilip Singh and others were also present at the press meet.In engineering and infrastructure, SECR used new rail grinding and ultrasonic testing systems, undertook track renewal of 196 km, and installation of 27 level crossing gates along with 2,176 door detections.Over 24 level crossings were eliminated through Road Over Bridges, Road Under Bridges, and Limited Height Subways.Electrification advanced strongly, with 211.45 track kilometres (TKM) of OHE sanctioned and 558 km of catenary wire energised, representing a 279% achievement against targets. Safety remained a top priority, with 30 safety seminars organised and 49 safety campaigns conducted.Additional achievements spanned personnel welfare, medical facilities, security measures, and station redevelopment projects, including platform extensions, foot over bridges, and modern amenities at stations.
