Lucknow: The fortnight-long second phase of School Chalo Abhiyan will be launched across the state on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the academic session 2025–26.The govt has released Rs 2 lakh to every district for smooth execution of campaign. “This is not merely an enrollment drive, but a dedicated effort to bring education to children who are out of school. All govt primary schools will be cleaned, beautified, and decorated in a festive manner as they reopen on July 1 after the summer vacation,” an official said.“Children will be welcomed with ‘roli-chandan’ (auspicious red turmeric paste), garlands, and delightful traditional food items. The mid-day meal will include special dishes like ‘halwa’ and ‘kheer’, making the experience of warmth, celebration, and motivation,” he added. As part of the campaign, teachers, instructors, shiksha mitras, and SMC (school management committee) members will go door-to-door to ensure maximum enrollment. Efforts will be made to identify school dropouts and out-of-school children, and to engage with their parents.“Special emphasis will be laid on enrolling and retaining girls who have dropped out due to household responsibilities or societal reasons. Meena Manch platforms will be activated in schools, using plays and storytelling to raise awareness about the importance of girls’ education,” he said. TNN
