New Delhi: Public Works Department (PWD) has introduced a QR code-based system that allows citizens to rate road works carried out by the Delhi govt.Under the initiative, display boards with QR and bar codes are being installed on all roads undergoing strengthening and recarpeting across the city. Scanning the code will give users access to project details and an option to submit feedback. The move, officials said, is aimed at improving transparency, accountability and citizen participation in road infrastructure projects.PWD minister Parvesh Verma called it a progressive step, saying the initiative would not only provide information but also allow citizens to directly share their feedback with the department.“Transparency is not just about sharing information but also about listening to people. Through this system, citizens can access details of road works and share feedback, making the process more responsive and accountable,” Verma said, adding that a structured feedback mechanism has been built into the QR platform.According to the directions issued to officials, display boards have to be installed within seven days of completion of any road work at prominent public locations such as bus queue shelters, major intersections and high-footfall areas. Each QR or bar code will provide details including the road’s name and length, date of last strengthening, contractor or agency involved, sanctioned cost and defect liability period. The system will also allow users to submit complaints, suggestions or feedback on the quality of work.PWD has mandated a uniform design for all display boards and issued maintenance protocols to ensure visibility and functionality. Divisions have been instructed to keep information updated after any subsequent work, an official said.A compliance framework has also been put in place, requiring divisions to submit completion reports within 10 days, along with regular monitoring at the zonal level. “The initiative will create a direct interface between citizens and the department and help improve quality through real-time feedback,” the official added.
