After the inauguration, Jarkiholi and women and child development minister Laxmi Hebbalkar drew public attention by stepping onto the pitch and playing a few overs of cricket. MLC Channaraj Hattiholi and MLA Asif Sait also joined them. Speaking after inspecting the facility, Jarkiholi asked officials and cricket coaches to identify talented sportspersons in the district and provide them systematic training to help them progress to the state and international levels. He said the indoor box cricket ground will offer better training opportunities for children interested in cricket and expressed hope that young players from Belagavi would make a mark at the national and international levels. Hebbalkar said the Bal Bhavan building, which was earlier in a neglected condition, was now transformed into a modern indoor sports facility. She credited ZP CEO Rahul Shinde for taking the initiative and driving the project.
