Sangli district consists of 10 Panchayat Samitis in total. The district has a population of 28,22,143, comprising 14,35,728 males and 13,86,415 females. The overall literacy rate of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is 81.48%, with 88.22% of males and 74.59% of females being literate. Around 74.51% of the district’s population lives in rural areas.
LOCATION
Sangli, one of the southwestern districts of Maharashtra, extends from 16°45′N–17°33′N latitudes and 73°42′E–75°40′E longitudes. It is bordered by Satara and Solapur to the north, Karnataka to the east and south, Kolhapur to the southwest, and shares a small boundary with Ratnagiri to the west.
