Salem: A man was sentenced to double life imprisonment in a double murder case in Salem on Friday.The convict, P Saravanan, 34, of Gundur Theppakkadu in Yercaud taluk, murdered an elderly couple from the same village in 2019, after they refused to give him money to buy alcohol. “Saravanan murdered Periya Gounder, 72, and his wife Kariyammal, 70, with stones on May 7, 2019,” said a police officer with Yercaud station. He was arrested and the trail held at the Salem mahila court, which sentenced him to double life imprisonment with a fine of 2000.
