Jalandhar: Shiromani Akali Dal (Revived) has requested the five-member committee, formed by the Akal Takht on Dec 2, 2024, to provide the complete records of its recent membership enrolment drive. In a communique sent Thursday to the panel, party office secretary Jagjit Singh Kohli said the party office lacks these records, which is hindering efforts to connect with cadres. The letter pointed out a resolution passed during the Feb 17 working committee meeting, which directed that all membership data be submitted to the central office. While the communique appreciated the committee for completing the enrolment task, it said that the absence of data at party headquarters has created coordination hurdles. The party has requested that the five members —Satwant Kaur, Manpreet Singh Ayali, Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Iqbal Singh Jhoondan, and Santa Singh Umaidpuri— submit the records by March 25. Internal sources indicate the issue has surfaced in several high-level meetings. Although party president Giani Harpreet Singh has previously requested the data, it has yet to be delivered. When questioned, Gurpartap Singh Wadala said the records are currently with Manpreet Singh Ayali, as the committee’s centralised office operated under his supervision. “Ayali should know about the record,” Wadala said, confirming the matter had been raised in prior meetings. For his part, Ayali said, “We shall give the record if they ask for it. We completed the enrolment while maintaining complete transparency.” He added that he had not yet received the formal letter regarding this request. Currently, the SAD (Revived) appears to be struggling with internal inertia, lacking the cohesive and coordinated action required to effectively manage the party machinery. MSID:: 129556498 413 |
