Ludhiana: After senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar raised objections over poor quality road construction work, the Municipal Corporation (MC) has got the road leading to Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib reconstructed from the contractor. The road leading to the gurudwara from Bearing market (near Jagraon Bridge) was reconstructed by the contractor a few months back. Cost of the project was around Rs 80 lakh.But a complaint was received over poor quality work in the office of senior deputy mayor Prashar. Following this, an inspection was conducted and the contractor was directed to reconstruct the road. On Wednesday, senior deputy mayor Rakesh Prashar again conducted an inspection at the site to check the quality of work. Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar stated that they are committed for overall sustainable development of the state.Prashar stated that no laxity would be tolerated in terms of quality of works and they are regularly monitoring the situation to ensure good quality works at ground level. Rakesh Prashar further stated that he had also received a complaint against poor quality work under the project to reconstruct the road outside Gurdwara Kalgidhar Sahib. The contractor has been directed to reconstruct that road too and the work would be completed shortly.Senior deputy mayor Prashar stated that projects worth crores are being taken up in the city to ensure overall development. The civic body will take strict action against poor quality works and they will not let the hard earned money of taxpayers be wasted at any cost.
