Varanasi: Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Division of East Central Railway and GAIL Gas Ltd signed an agreement on Wednesday, for supply of PNG connections in railway colonies.Under this scheme, PNG supply will commence in around 4000 railway residences in Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar. Additionally, this facility will also be made available in all running rooms. Besides, vendors operating at DDU Junction and the railway workshop will also benefit from this facility, which will enhance convenience, safety, and efficiency in their operations.The agreement was signed in the presence of divisional railway manager (DDU) Uday Singh Meena, senior divisional engineer-coordination Suraj Kumar, divisional engineer-headquarters Ajay Kumar, and DGM/officer in-Charge GAIL Randheer Kumar Mishra. Officials said it is a significant step towards promoting modern amenities in railway colonies and encouraging use of environment-friendly energy. PNG connections will not only ensure uninterrupted supply of cooking gas but will also prove to be safer, more economical, and better for the environment compared with conventional fuels. No registration fee will be charged from railway employees for PNG connections. The first phase of the project is expected to be operational by the second week of June.
