Hyderabad: Seeking a sweeping mandate in the municipal elections, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday promised large scale infrastructure and irrigation projects for the combined Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahbubnagar and surrounding districts, including bringing Godavari and Krishna waters for drinking and irrigation, completing key road works, developing underground drainage systems and transforming Vikarabad into a world class tourist destination.Addressing an election rally at Narayanpur village in Vikarabad district, Revanth accused former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao of deliberately denying Godavari water to the combined Rangareddy. He said the foundation stone for the Pranahita-Chevella project was laid by former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy in Nov 2008 in the undivided state to supply water to Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy districts, but alleged that KCR, despite projecting himself as a leader of the Telangana movement, failed to execute it. Rangareddy neglectedRevanth further alleged that KCR had assured leaders from Seemandhra that Rayalaseema would be developed as ‘Ratanalaseema’ during a visit to YSR Congress leader Roja’s residence, and said the BRS chief never committed to providing Godavari water to Rangareddy, which he described as a neglected district. The CM also targeted the Kaleshwaram project, alleging that the Rs 1 lakh crore project collapsed within three years. He claimed that funds meant for the project were used by KCR and his family members, including KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, to build farmhouses. Referring to former minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy’s statement that she joined the BRS for the development of Rangareddy, he questioned why permissions for completing the Chevella project were never secured. Revanth said land acquisition for the Lakshmi Devi Palli reservoir would be completed soon and Krishna water would be brought to the region. He said it was the govt’s responsibility to make Tandur, Parigi and Vikarabad fertile, and added that Krishna waters would also be diverted to Makthal, Narayanpet and Kodangal, benefiting 1.5 lakh acres. RRR to be developedOn infrastructure, he said the previous BRS govt had failed to complete the Appa junction-Manneguda road, leading to several fatal accidents. He said the Congress govt resolved legal hurdles and expedited the works, and reiterated that the Regional Ring Road and radial roads would be developed. Responding to allegations by KTR and Harish Rao that he was erasing KCR’s contribution, Revanth said no one could erase the history of scams and irregularities of ‘papala bhairavudu (KCR)’. He cited alleged fake passport and counterfeit currency cases and said these would remain part of Telangana’s history. BJP-BRS secret pact Revanth also attacked the BJP, accusing it of seeking votes in the name of PM Modi in the municipal elections and alleging a secret poll pact between the BJP and BRS. He questioned why both parties were going door-to-door if they had truly developed the state. Listing welfare measures such as fine rice distribution, ration cards, farm loan waivers, free bus travel for women, 200 units of free power and filling 70,000 govt jobs, Revanth said the Indiramma rule would continue and expressed confidence that the Congress would also win the 2029 assembly elections.
