Noida: Residents and traders near the Bhangel elevated road have warned about launching an agitation if Noida Authority fails to provide a parking facility below the flyover. The absence of a parking bay has made accessing the Bhangel market difficult for residents and hurt footfall for traders. The Noida Village Residents Association has written a letter to the Authority, stating that they would seek legal recourse if it did not take immediate action. The Bhangel-Salarpur market is one of the largest rural markets in the city and serves the nearby sectors and villages. Residents and traders of the area have been demanding a dedicated parking space under the 4.5km Bhangel Elevated Road to alleviate the severe congestion and support local markets in Barola, Salarpur, and Bhangel. However, the space remains encroached by vendors and hawkers. One of the traders, Raj Singh, told TOI last Nov that the number of visitors and buyers had declined sharply over the last few years because of the poor condition of the DSC Road that runs below the flyover and lack of parking space.President of the association Ranjan Tomar said, “If the parking facility is not constructed, the businesses will face severe repercussions.” Road dividers in Barola have reduced parking spaces. Now, the Salarpur and Bhangel neighbourhoods are facing similar threats.Another member of the association Puneet Rana said, “This is no longer just about parking; it’s about the accountability of the Authority. Public needs are being neglected and encroachments are being allowed under the flyover.”A response from the Authority is awaited .
