Hyderabad: Residents can now report waste and sanitation issues via WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit municipal offices. The three civic bodies — the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) — have launched dedicated WhatsApp complaint channels. Residents can simply take a photo of the issue and send it with the location details. Through this facility, citizens can report issues such as garbage dumped on roads, overflowing bins, uncollected waste, blocked drains requiring desilting and the removal of green waste.According to the GHMC, this system aims to provide citizens with a quick, simple and accessible way to help keep the city clean. Once a complaint has been received, the sanitation team will be alerted to address the issue as soon as possible.Officials said that this initiative will strengthen the coordination between citizens and civic authorities, improving the city’s overall sanitation management system. This citizen-friendly initiative will improve sanitation services and ensure prompt resolution of complaints, officials added. To raise awareness among citizens, the GHMC has also released a short video showing how to report sanitation issues using WhatsApp. The GHMC has urged citizens to play an active role in keeping the city clean and hygienic by promptly reporting any sanitation concerns.
