Noida: Days after a vehicle carrying 14 quintals of spurious paneer — allegedly brought from Aligarh — was caught in Sector 63, the district administration wrote a letter to the neighbouring district officials asking them to check its production point. On Saturday night, police had caught the vehicle carrying the spurious paneer brought for sale in the city. Four people had been arrested.Assistant commissioner II (Food) Sarvesh Mishra told TOI, “Aligarh supplies a large amount of paneer to Delhi-NCR, but there is a serious concern about its quality. We have seen repeated cases of adulteration. It is important to trace the production point to stop the supply of such adulterated products at the source.”Officials from the food department said the seized paneer sample was sent for laboratory testing. Mishra said his team will continue to regularly inspect vehicles bringing paneer from Aligarh to Noida and will send random samples for testing. “If any sample fails to meet the standards, strict legal action will be taken,” he said.Officials said in Dec 2023, the food department intercepted a vehicle from Aligarh at Jewar Toll Plaza carrying paneer. The sample collected was later found unsafe in laboratory testing.
