CHENNAI: Amidst rumours of BJP making another attempt to rope TVK into NDA, sources close to Vijay told TOI there has been no change in his stand on not having an alliance with BJP or AIADMK.Two senior TVK leaders said several parties, including AIADMK, contacted them earlier, but their position remained the same. “We declared BJP as our ideological enemy and DMK as our political rival. There is no change in that,” said a TVK functionary.TVK election campaign secretary Aadhav Arjuna dismissed as speculation, reports that Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan has again reached out to Vijay. Party sources said Vijay and Pawan Kalyan were in contact since Vijay’s early years in the film industry and continue to maintain a cordial relationship. Pawan Kalyan was among the first leaders to greet Vijay when TVK was launched, and Vijay congratulated him on his electoral success in 2024. “They talking to each other does not mean alliance talks. Such narratives are being pushed to stunt TVK’s growth,” said a TVK leader.BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran told reporters in Thanjavur that his party was not in talks with TVK as Vijay had announced that his party would go it alone. He dismissed rumours that NDA had offered the deputy CM post to Vijay.Meanwhile, TVK is stepping up its election preparedness. Vijay is expected to interview the first set of 25 shortlisted candidate aspirants on Tuesday. Those likely to attend include Aadhav Arjuna, who may contest from Villivakkam, general secretary N Anand for T Nagar and propaganda secretary Arun Raj for Tiruchengode.
