Following thirteen tremendous years as a community-driven, health-focused initiative, the Wings for Life World Run organised by Red Bull returns for its 14th edition, continuing to unite the world to raise funds for spinal cord injury research. The run will be flagged off on Sunday, May 10 at 4:30 PM GMT, with runners across the globe joining via the Wings for Life World Run app.Participants can gather across multiple cities – at Nehru Park (New Delhi), Kavuri Gate, Durgam Cheruvu (Hyderabad), KJ Somaiya and Gargi Plaza (Mumbai), Miramar Beach, Panjim, North Goa (Goa), Sukhna Lake and Buddha Garden (Chandigarh), the Main Building, IISc (Bengaluru), and Sabarmati Riverfront (Ahmedabad) – and be part of the cause. Instead, a Catcher Car is physical or virtual sets the challenge. Starting 30 minutes after the race begins, the Catcher Car gradually increases its speed, chasing runners from behind. Once the car overtakes a participant, their race comes to an end. At major race locations, a physical Catcher Car is deployed, while runners participating remotely are tracked virtually through the Wings for Life World Run App.2025 Edition: A Record-Breaking YearIn 2025, a record-breaking 310,719 participants from 191 nationalities took part simultaneously across 170 countries, running, walking or rolling as part of this global movement. Together, runners and wheelchair users covered an average of 12.4 km each amounting to a total distance equivalent to nearly 64 times around the equator, while also raising a single-year record of ₹82 crore.Japan’s Jo Fukuda set a new men’s distance record by covering 71.67 km, while Germany’s Esther Pfeiffer claimed the women’s title with 59.03 km, becoming the country’s first-ever women’s global champion.Journey So FarSince the first edition in 2014, a total of 1,870,253 Wings for Life World Run participants have raised a tally of 60.53 million euros. A total of 324 promising research projects and clinical trials have been supported by the Wings for Life foundation since its founding in 2004, all chosen through an exacting selection procedure.It is a diverse platform that brings together elite athletes, amateurs and first-timers, enabling them to raise funds for the cause and give back to society through this run.
