Hubballi: A 15-year-old boy, son of BJP functionary and developer Veeresh Sangalad, died on the spot in Hubballi on Thursday after his electric scooter was hit by an Audi car driven by his friend while they were filming a reel.The deceased has been identified as Nimish Sangalad, a class 9 student of a private school in Mysuru and a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Hubballi. He had returned home after his class 9 exams for the Ugadi festival. Family sources said the teenagers planned to shoot a reel of speeding vehicles at the Shejawadkar plot, and Nimish allegedly intended to attempt a crash stunt for the reel.Police commissioner N Shashikumar rushed to the spot and said the victim was riding an electric scooter while the Audi approached from the opposite direction. “They aimed at shooting a sudden brake. However, Nimish’s friend, who is also a teenager, failed to apply the brakes and lost control of the car. Namish died on the spot,” he said. He added: “Despite repeated awareness campaigns appealing to parents not to give vehicles to minors, some children are taking vehicles on the road without the knowledge of their parents.“Hubballi North traffic police have registered a case and detained the teenager who was driving the car for interrogation.
