Jalandhar: Former National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Raninder Singh has written to chief minister Bhagwant Mann after the latter questioned his credentials to head the body.Mann had made the remarks on Tuesday while justifying the appointment of AAP leaders to key positions in Punjab’s sports bodies. In his letter, Raninder also enclosed certificates and photographs to substantiate his sporting career.“Shooting has been an integral part of my life since I was 11,” Raninder said, outlining his participation in international competitions. He added that he served as NRAI president from December 2010 to April 2023 and is no longer in the role. “Your briefing on the facts is clearly lacking in substance,” he said.Highlighting his international experience, Raninder said he was a member of the executive committee of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) from 2014 to 2018 and later its vice-president from 2018 to 2022, both positions secured through elections.Taking a swipe at Mann’s remarks, he said, “On the issue of ‘shaky hands’, you appear to have more experience in assessing such matters. As an athlete, I look forward to competing with you once you reach the required standard, and we can then compare via the scoreboard.” MSID:: 129804191 413 |
