Ranchi: Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Saturday initiated a series of disciplinary actions against revenue staff to root out corruption and inefficiency within the district’s circle offices.He ordered the suspension of a revenue employee from the Kanke circle in connection with the illegal construction of a boundary wall. In the Angara circle, another employee was served a showcause notice for failing to dispose of mutation applications that were languishing for more than 90 days.Bhajantri warned that those acting unlawfully or in violation of regulations would not be spared under any circumstances.The administration is placing a high priority on the swift disposal of mutation cases involving less than 10 decimals of land. Bhajantri said, “These cases must be handled on a war footing. If any pending case of this nature is raised during a ‘Janata Darbar,’ the concerned employee will face immediate consequences.”To ensure fairness, the additional collector of Ranchi has been directed to randomly select and review 10 rejected mutation cases from each circle. “If the investigation reveals that an application was rejected erroneously, charge-sheets must be framed against all individuals involved,” the DC said.In an effort to curb illicit dealings, circle officers (CO) have been instructed to maintain strict control over their subordinates and take disciplinary action against anyone found to be colluding with land mafias. Bhajantri said, “No CO shall collude with the land mafia; nor shall any circle inspector (CI) or employee get involved in illicit activities. Otherwise, strict action is inevitable.”Addressing technical hurdles, the DC noted that the revenue office must be informed of system issues in a timely manner to ensure that revenue-related work is not disrupted.The meeting also covered broader administrative duties, including the demarcation of land for Anganwadi centres and the prompt disbursement of compensation for natural disasters and hit-and-run incidents.
