Ranchi: Authorities of Birsa Munda Airport on Saturday withdrew three flights from Ranchi to Delhi and another to Hyderabad under the summer flight schedule.Airport director Vinod Kumar said minor changes were made by the airline as per their convenience and profit aspects.“A total of 48 flights will operate from Ranchi airport every day out of the 52 at present. The recent IndiGo crisis has led to the reduction in number of flights. Schedules are rolled out according to season as passenger footfall changes accordingly,” he added.Three IndiGo Ranchi-Delhi flights — 6E-6031, 6E-5139 and 6E-2294 — were withdrawn. An online ticket booking platform showed the flights available for booking on Saturday but removed from Sunday. Similarly, the booking platform shows three flights to Hyderabad. But as per the new schedule, two flights are available to Hyderabad from Ranchi.Kumar, after taking charge in Oct last year, had spoken about plans to add new destinations from Ranchi, especially to the northeast, along with international connectivity. However, the plans did not fructify.“We tried our best to include new destinations. The matter was discussed multiple times in the recent meetings of the aerodrome committee. But the airline did not come forward to introduce any new destination. As the airport has developed with new facilities, we will be trying to introduce more destinations in the future,” the director said.
