Ramgarh: A case of model code of conduct (MCC) violation has been lodged against leaders of Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) at Ramgarh police station in Ramgarh district for allegedly announcing candidate for chairman post for Ramgarh Municipal Council election. Notably, civic body polls in Jharkhand are due to take place on Feb 23.Anil Kumar Ranjan, assistant returning officer (ARO) and district labour superintendent, who filed the case, said, “It’s the first MCC violation case in Ramgarh since polls were announced. Since the elections aren’t on party lines, no party should announce candidate on their letter head. The case was filed against JLKM’s district president Devanand Kumar Mahto, party worker Santosh Kumar Mahto, and proposed candidate Anita Kumari. The Ramgarh district unit of the party had held an official press conference to announce the candidate.”
