Rajkot: Panic gripped the district and sessions court near Ghanteshwar on Tuesday morning after an email claiming a bomb had been planted on the premises was received. The Gujarat high court reportedly received a similar threat the same day.The threatening message was sent to the official email ID of the district and sessions court around 8:15am, DCP (crime) Parthrajsinh Gohil told TOI. It further stated that the bomb had been implanted in a manner that made it untraceable and would be detonated by 1:40pm on Tuesday.As soon as the alert was raised, teams from the crime branch, special operations group (SOG), Cyber Crime Unit, dog squad, and University police reached the court and began a thorough search. Entry to the premises was restricted, and all visitors — including lawyers and litigants — were subjected to intense security checks.The entire premises were combed for nearly four hours, but no suspicious item was found. Over 50 police personnel were involved in the operation, which was closely supervised by Gohil.According to police sources, Rajkot City police were officially informed of the threat around 10:45am. The Rajkot Cyber Crime Unit has launched a probe to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender.
