Jaipur: Around three decades ago, full immunization coverage in the state was just 21.1%, according to NFHS 1992-93. It rose to 80.4% in NFHS 2020-21 and reached 91.8% in 2024-25.According to the health dept, effective immunization has helped reduce maternal and infant mortality in Rajasthan to levels better than the national average. Principal secretary Gayatri Rathore said the state provides 10 vaccines to children from birth to 16 years and to pregnant women, protecting them against about 11 serious diseases. These include BCG, Hepatitis-B, Pentavalent, Polio, Rota Virus, PCV, Measles-Rubella, IPV, DPT Booster and TD. Pregnant women receive TD for protection against tetanus and diphtheria.Coverage has improved steadily over the past few years: 83.3% in 2021-22, 85.2% in 2022-23, 88.2% in 2023-24, and 91.8% in 2024-25. In 2025-26, up to Feb, TD coverage stood at 89%, BCG at 86%, OPV-3 at 88.8%, Pentavalent-3 at 91.9%, and MR-1 at 90.6%.Rajasthan has reported no polio case since 2009. New vaccines such as Pentavalent, IPV, Rota Virus and PCV have strengthened the program. HPV vaccination campaign for girls aged 14 to 15 was also launched nationally from Ajmer on Feb 28.
