Hyderabad: BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday urged Union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar to raise Telangana’s pending issues during the ongoing budget session of Parliament and secure funds and approvals for long-pending and key infrastructure projects in Telangana. In his letters to the two Union ministers from the state, Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that the Union govt seemed to neglect implementing promises made to Telangana in the Andhr Pradesh Reorganisation Act. “Funds from the Centre are not a charity, but what we are seeking is the rightful share of Telangana’s people, who contribute taxes to the national economy. Andhra Pradesh received substantial allocations in successive Union budgets. Telangana also deserves fair support without political discrimination,” the minister said.He highlighted several pending projects, such as Musi rejuvenation, Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 requiring 50% central funding, the Regional Ring Road, the Hyderabad–Warangal Industrial Corridor, the Bayyaram Steel Plant, and the long-pending ITIR project that needs to be revived.Several commitments made to Telangana under the AP Reorganisation Act remained unfulfilled even after 12 years. The Centre should ensure justice to Telangana, he urged.
