Sangrur: Punjab minister Aman Arora on Thursday inaugurated a railway underbridge (RUB) in Sunam, easing long-standing traffic congestion near the bus stand and improving connectivity within the town.Constructed at a cost of around Rs 9 crore by the Centre and the Punjab govt, the RUB provides direct connectivity between Indira Basti and the main city area, fulfilling a long-pending demand of residents. The underpass is expected to end prolonged delays caused by frequent closure of the railway crossing, where commuters earlier had to wait for long durations.Arora said the project would boost connectivity and support economic activity in the region. He added that under the leadership of chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government was focused on improving basic infrastructure and resolving day-to-day issues faced by people. He said the underpass has been designed to allow smooth movement of heavy vehicles, including buses and trucks, and that quality materials and modern technology were used to ensure durability and safety.Local residents welcomed the project, saying it would provide major relief from traffic bottlenecks.
