Rajkot: The Kutch East Special Operations Group (SOG) on Saturday arrested a Punjab native and seized heroin worth Rs 1.9 lakh from him on the Radhanpur–Adesar national highway in Rapar taluka of Kutch district.The accused, Gurvinder Singh Dhillon, a resident of Firozpur district in Punjab, was intercepted based on a tip-off. Police said the total seizure, including the contraband and other items, was valued at over Rs 2.4 lakh.Kutch East superintendent of police Sagar Bagmar said the SOG received specific intelligence that Dhillon was transporting heroin in a car from Radhanpur towards Adesar. A surveillance team was deployed on the highway, and the suspect vehicle was intercepted. A search led to the recovery of a suspicious substance, which was later confirmed as heroin by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).An offence under the NDPS Act has been registered at Adesar police station on a complaint filed by ASI Vanrajsinh Jadeja of the Kutch East SOG. Besides Dhillon, police have also named Gurmeet Singh as an accused in the FIR.During preliminary interrogation, Dhillon allegedly told police that he procured the heroin from Gurmeet Singh and brought it to Kutch to sell to individual customers. According to police data, between Jan 1 and Feb 28, Kutch East police registered around 15 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested about 18 accused in narcotics-related offences.
