Pune: A bomb threat email claiming that the passport office would be blown up caused a brief panic at the Baner facility on Thursday morning. The email claimed that RDX and IED explosives had been planted in the office with the help of Pakistan’s ISI, but did not specify which facility. Deputy commissioner of police (Zone IV) Chilumula Rajnikanth told TOI, “We have registered a case against the email sender at the Baner police station. Further investigation is going on.”Deputy commissioner of police (Special Branch) Sandip Bhajibhakare told TOI, “We dispatched the bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) to Baner, Senapati Bapat Road and Mundhwa passport offices in the city as the email did not specify the office, but did not find any suspicious object. All floors of the buildings, office cabins and parking areas were carefully inspected.”Bhajibhakare said, “The message, received on the official email ID of the passport office, mentioned that explosives like RDX and IED had been planted and Pakistan’s ISI was behind it.”
