Jaipur: Protests have continued in Nagaur district since Monday after the mutilated body of a 70-year-old woman was recovered from multiple locations, sparking outrage and fears of a planned murder.Police identified the victim as Nathi Devi, 70, a resident of Paldi village under Padu Kalan police station limits.According to police, Nathi Devi left home around 11 am on Sunday, telling her family she was going to the market, but did not return. When she failed to come back by late evening, her family began searching for her.On Monday at around 11.30 am, police were informed that a body had been found stuffed inside a sack in a secluded area. Officials said a man grazing goats outside the village spotted the sack near bushes. When he checked it, he found the body of an elderly woman and alerted villagers.Police reached the spot, inspected the scene and began an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem after officials pacified locals gathered at the site on Wednesday.During the search, police recovered the woman’s severed head about five kilometres from the main spot. Her feet were found in a field nearly two kilometres away. In one case, a passerby saw a dog carrying a severed foot, leading police to the recovery site.Nagaur SP Roshan Meena said all body parts have been recovered and the probe is ongoing. “The investigation is underway. We cannot rule out any possibility just yet,” he said, adding that while robbery is suspected, no angle has been confirmed so far.Police said a few people have been detained for questioning and that they expect to crack the case in the next few days.
