Hyderabad: A professional motocross rider with international experience died in a road accident on NH-65 near Chityal in Nagldonda district on Sunday. He was returning to the city after a meeting with a group of bikers in Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh.Chityal police said the victim, 40-year-old businessman Ritesh Reddy from Jubilee Hills, was wearing full motorcycle riding gear including a helmet. Ritesh, who was into professional motorcycle riding for the past 20 years, died on the spot. His motorcycle, a BMW 1300 CC Adventure, was found damaged nearby.Police said the accident happened around 12.30pm, when Ritesh went off the road, about two km away from Chityal. “It is still not known how it happened as there were no witnesses to the accident. It is being probed whether the his bike was hit by an another vehicle or he lost control,” sub-inspector Ravi Kumar told TOI.Ritesh and several other bikers rode to Bapatla on Friday for a get-together. Nearly 50 professional bikers from various parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh came in different batches and stayed in Baptla on Friday and Saturday.On the return journey, Ritesh was travelling alone on the stretch near the accident site, with some bikers a few kilometres behind him. Passersby noticed Ritesh lying by the roadside and alerted the police. One of Ritesh’s group members told reporters: “Actually, Ritesh was with us for some time till the food court. Since some others had to refuel, we took U-turn, whereas Ritesh headed straight towards Hyderabad. Later, we got information from police, that he had died in a road accident. He was a motocross rider, who had participated in international rides.” Police said it did not seem that Ritesh was riding at a high-speed at the time of the accident.
