He spoke during a meeting and discussion with district teachers on improving SSLC results at the Zilla Guru Bhavan, held in collaboration with the district administration, zilla panchayat, school education department, and the district unit of the Karnataka state secondary school employees’ association on Tuesday.He said earlier, education officers and deputy directors made unexpected visits to schools, which allowed teachers to teach peacefully. He said teachers now faced pressure due to tasks such as distributing midday meals, bananas and eggs, and submitting all records by noon. “How can teaching be done under such pressure?” he asked, and said there was also a shortage of teachers in schools.Horatti said that in primary schools, one teacher handled two or three classes, and asked what they could teach children in such circumstances. He said students came to high school without learning much, which led to lower SSLC results. He asked teachers to discuss these issues among themselves and submit a proposal to him, and said he would hold a meeting with the concerned authorities and send the meeting proceedings.Presiding over the meeting were Dharwad division additional commissioner Ishwar Ullagaddi, Ishwar Nayak, director of the Dharwad additional commissioner’s office, DDPI Mohan Dandin, and DS of the zilla panchayat Puneet, who spoke on the occasion.
