Mangaluru: Venur Police arrested a man from Bihar for allegedly cheating a woman by posing as a salesman and offering to polish her gold ornaments, which he dissolved using a chemical.The suspect was identified as Chandan Kumar, 30, from the Supaul district of Bihar. The incident was reported at Panilaje in Kashipatna village, Belthangady taluk, on Feb 10. Police said the suspect deceived the victim by promising to clean and polish gold jewellery. The suspect took the gold and allegedly melted it using a solution.A case was registered under Section 318(4) of the BNS. Following the investigation, the suspect was arrested and presented before the court. Approximately 7g of gold ornaments, valued at around Rs 75,000, were recovered from the accused.A team led by Venur police station’s sub-inspector Akshay Davagi, and Oman N, including ASIs Venkatesh Naik, Bennichan, head constable Krishna, and others, conducted the operation.
