Bengaluru: In a late-night crackdown on counterfeit merchandise, Madanayakanahalli police raided illegal manufacturing units in Bylakonenahalli, Nelamangala, and seized fake branded clothing worth about Rs 30 lakh.The operation uncovered a large-scale racket, producing counterfeit jeans under the guise of top international labels such as Levi’s, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Puma, and Nike. The items were being produced and stored at a godown under the unregistered name “AA Fashions”, with the clear intention of circulating them in the market as genuine branded products. “This was an unauthorised operation with no legal manufacturing licence. Counterfeiting pose a significant threat to brand reputation and consumer trust,” said an officer part of the raid.A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Copyright Act. Police suspect the involvement of a wider network and are working to identify all individuals connected to the counterfeit supply chain.Authorities have urged consumers to remain vigilant and purchase branded products only from authorised retailers to avoid inadvertently supporting such illegal enterprises.
