In view of the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadhan, Police in Sopore, in coordination with the concerned departments and other stakeholders, conducted a comprehensive market inspection across key commercial areas of Police District Sopore.
The joint teams inspected shops dealing in essential commodities, food items, fruits, vegetables, bakery products, and other Ramadhan-related goods. During the checking, emphasis was laid on verification of rate lists, prevention of overpricing, maintenance of quality standards, hygiene and cleanliness, and adherence to fair trade practices.
Shopkeepers were directed to display updated rate lists prominently and ensure that essential commodities are sold at approved prices. They were also advised to maintain quality and avoid any form of hoarding or unfair trade practices that could inconvenience the public during the holy month.
The exercise was undertaken to safeguard consumer interests, ensure price stability, and facilitate smooth availability of essential items for the public during Ramadhan.
Police reiterated that such inspections will continue in coordination with relevant departments to ensure transparency, accountability, and public welfare during the festive period.
