Prayagraj: Beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) flats in Lukerganj will get piped natural gas (PNG) connections, eliminating the need to queue for LPG cylinders. The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has completed the installation of PNG pipelines across all 76 flats built on land freed from slain mafia Atiq Ahmed’s possession. Special camps will be organised soon to provide connections directly to the beneficiaries. PDA vice-chairman Rishiraj said the PNG supply is expected to be activated between July and Aug. He added that a meeting with officials from the supplying company is scheduled for next week to discuss the final formalities. “The initiative aims to make daily cooking and household gas needs more convenient for the residents, particularly benefiting families from economically weaker sections,” he said. The authority has assured that the pipelines have been laid following all safety and quality standards, and the supply will be monitored regularly to ensure uninterrupted service. Officials said the move is part of a broader effort under the PMAY scheme to enhance the quality of life for urban residents and provide modern amenities as part of govt housing initiatives. The PDA also plans to extend the service to other residential projects of the scheme in the city in the near future.
