Patna: Patna University on Wednesday published a detailed academic calendar (2026-27), giving complete details of admission to its different undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses, the commencement of classes, schedule of examinations and publication of results.
According to the academic calendar displayed on the PU website, the online submission of applications for admission to the four-year undergraduate courses (both under conventional and self-financing modes) in its constituent colleges, namely, Patna College, Patna Science College, Magadh Mahila College, B N College and Vanijya Mahavidylaya, will start on May 9. The last date for submitting the online form is May 30.
The university will not conduct an entrance test for admission to the regular undergraduate honours programmes in arts, science, and commerce in the general stream. The admission will be made on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in Class XII examinations conducted by different boards. However, the dates of the entrance tests for professional and self-financing courses have been announced by PU.
According to PU students’ welfare dean Kameshwar Pandit, the last date for admission to all the undergraduate programmes is July 7. Induction meet for the newly admitted UG students will be held on July 10 and their classes will start on July 11.
“While the entrance test for bachelor of fine arts will be held on June 12, the test for admission to the LLB (3-year) LLB (5-year), BBA, BCA and B Lib Science will be held on June 13,” he said, adding that the entrance test for admission to BMC, functional English and environment science will be held on June 14.
The online submission of applications for admission to the PG courses, both under regular and self-financing modes, will start on June 10, with the last date for submission of forms being June 30. The last date of admission in all general PG courses is July 15. Induction meet for newly admitted PG students will be held on July 16 and their classes will commence on July 17.
While admission to most postgraduate courses running in conventional mode will be held on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying examination, some courses like LLM, MEd and master in personnel management and industrial relations will admit students through entrance tests. “The last date for admission to these courses is July 25 and their classes will commence on July 28,” the dean said.
