Chandigarh: PU has been designated as the AICTE nodal centre for universal human values (UHV) for the northwestern region for the 2025-27 period, officials said.
The recognition was conferred at the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi during a vice-chancellors’ conclave held Sunday. With this designation, PU will coordinate UHV-related activities, including faculty training programmes and curriculum initiatives, across institutions in the region.
PU officials said the recognition follows the work carried out by the university’s UHV cell. Vice-chancellor Renu Vig said the designation reflected sustained efforts to integrate value-based education into academic programmes.
Prof Shankar Sehgal, coordinator of the UHV Cell, received the recognition on behalf of the vice-chancellor. It was presented by Yogesh Singh in the presence of Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Rajneesh Arora and Shyama Rath.
The conclave was attended by vice-chancellors, directors, principals and other academic stakeholders from across the country.
Members of PU’s UHV team, including Prof Sehgal and Dr Garima Joshi, said the university would continue to organise faculty development programmes, workshops and related academic activities under the UHV framework to support regional institutions.
Officials said details of regional coordination and planned activities would be shared in the coming months.
