Jamshedpur: Pilgrims, devotees and enthusiasts pulled the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra with spiritual fervour and gaiety in Steel City on Friday. Over half a dozen Lord Jagannath temples in the city rolled out their chariots during the day.The main attraction was the grand chariot procession taken out by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).In the procession, three beautifully decorated floral chariots of Lord Jagannath and his two siblings were taken out from the Andhra Bhakta Shri Ram Mandiram in Bistupur and ended at the vehicle parking zone near Sakchi roundabout.Placed on each of the 45-foot height chariots, the idols of the three deities appeared spectacular. The elegantly draped colourful attire made the trinity of deities look incredibly vibrant and majestic. The devotees also jostled to touch the chariots and pull it as the deities moved to Mausi Badi. The cloudy weather accompanied by a cool breeze made the atmosphere pleasant, making a huge number of people turn out to either take part in the procession, offer flowers and fruits, or watch the chariots, which stopped at designated points.Meanwhile, the district administration made adequate security arrangements and set up refreshments points to provide fruits, sweets, namkeens, sharbat, tea, coffee and water to the crowd.
