Vijayapura: A massive fire broke out at HMK Car Service Centre located near National Highway 50 in Vijayapura city, reducing more than 20 cars to ashes.The service centre, owned by Hanumanth Kanamadi, had several cars of different companies parked for repair and servicing. According to sources, the fire erupted suddenly and spread rapidly across the entire shed within minutes, causing extensive damage.
Local residents said flames shot high into the air, creating panic in the surrounding area. On receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Vijayapura fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours of strenuous effort.In the fire accident, spare parts, machinery and other materials worth around Rs 35 lakh kept inside the service centre were completely destroyed. The total value of the burnt vehicles is estimated to be over Rs 1 crore.Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, the service centre owner Hanumanth Kanamadi has suffered huge financial losses.The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary suspicion points towards an electrical short circuit or a technical fault. Police and fire department officials have launched an investigation into the incident.Members of the public have said the incident once again highlights the need for stricter safety measures and improved fire safety arrangements in Vijayapura city.
