Noida: Two additional electricity billing helpdesks are expected to be set up in Noida and Greater Noida West, adding to the existing centralised helpdesk in Sector 18 and three helpdesks at Dadri, Jewar and Dankaur that were opened earlier this month.More than 10,000 billing complaints are reported every month in Gautam Budh Nagar. Officials said the new centres are proposed to address rising complaints and will be established after receiving approval from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). At present, four helpdesks handle billing-related grievances from both urban and rural areas under the urban restructuring plan launched last year. “Currently, the proposal is in the planning stage and stems from load distribution in a single centre,” a power department official said. The executive engineer in-charge of billing at the Sector 18 office, Shivam Tripathi, said more than 200 billing complaints are received daily through the 1912 helpline and the district records around 10,000 such cases each month. He added that assistant engineers currently rotate between the three offices and the Noida centre”The new helpdesks will help decentralise grievance handling and reduce pressure on existing centres,” he said.Operational since Dec 15 last year, the URP system provides a single-window redress for issues, including billing, meters, and load-related matters, among others.
