Lucknow: Organisational restructuring of the state unit and the likely cabinet reshuffle in Yogi govt dominated discussions at a high-level core committee meeting of the BJP in Lucknow on Friday.The meeting, convened at the residence of the chief minister, was attended by senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Arun Kumar, along with deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak. Also present were state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary and state general secretary (organisation) Dharam Pal Singh. According to sources, the ongoing organisational rejig within the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit, in the run-up to the Assembly elections, figured prominently in the deliberations. While the party has completed the appointment of district presidents in 94 organisational districts, the constitution of district executive committees is still pending. This exercise is expected to be followed by further changes at the state level, aimed at strengthening the party’s electoral machinery. Sources said Arun Kumar emphasised the need for closer coordination between the party organisation and govt to reinforce the BJP’s grassroots connect. The focus, he is learnt to have said, should be on ensuring seamless communication between organisational functionaries and govt representatives to enhance responsiveness and political effectiveness. Earlier in the day, the RSS functionary held a separate meeting with Sangh functionaries in Lucknow, where he gathered feedback from various districts. These inputs were subsequently shared during the core committee meeting, forming the basis for discussions on organisational strategy and governance priorities. The developments come close on the heels of Yogi Adityanath‘s recent participation in zonal meetings of the RSS across all six organisational regions of the state. During these interactions, the chief minister is learnt to have stressed the importance of swift redressal of public grievances and greater accountability among party and govt representatives. Sources said the CM also directed ministers in charge of districts to intensify coordination with local organisational units and ensure that complaints from both the public and party workers are addressed promptly. The emphasis on responsiveness and coordination is being seen as part of a broader strategy to consolidate the BJP’s position ahead of the assembly elections.The core committee discussions are also being viewed in political circles as a precursor to a possible cabinet reshuffle, which could be aimed at balancing caste and regional representation while injecting fresh energy into govt. While no official announcement has been made, the timing of the meeting has fuelled speculation that both organisational and governmental changes may be rolled out in a calibrated manner in the coming weeks.
