Hisar: An orderly in the Army has been remanded in custody following the discovery of a missing 37-year-old woman’s body, found buried in a shallow grave within the high-security Hisar cantonment. The victim, a mother of two who worked as a cleaner and cook for Army families, had been missing for five days before her body was recovered from a forest area on Sunday evening. Army police and district detectives tracked her final movements through mobile-phone data, leading them to the residential quarters of a colonel’s orderly. The suspect, Baleshwar Kunjur, a soldier from Chhattisgarh, appeared in court on Monday where he was placed in a two-day police custody to assist with a reconstruction of the crime scene. The victim had worked inside the restricted military zone for five years, gaining entry daily via a verified identity card. Her husband told authorities that on March 11, she was lured back to the base under a false pretext. She returned home from her morning shift at 9am but was called back at noon, allegedly to deliver food. When she failed to return, her family filed a missing person report on March 12. Following a joint operation between Army Police and local investigators, her body was found in a bag, buried in the soil beneath thick brush.Allegations of BrutalityWhile the official cause of death awaits an autopsy report from Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, investigators have revealed harrowing details of the victim’s final moments. “The accused allegedly tied the woman’s hands before burying her body,” an investigation source said. “Severe injuries were found on her face and body.”The victim’s family has levelled allegations of rape and murder against the soldier. Police confirmed that murder charges were added to the case file immediately following the recovery of the body and the discovery of “foul play” evidence.Breach of TrustThe incident has sent shockwaves through the cantonment, a zone usually defined by stringent security and vetted personnel. The accused was a trusted member of the staff, serving as a personal orderly to a high-ranking officer. Sources indicate that suspicion fell on Kunjur after technical surveillance placed him in the vicinity of the victim’s last known location. During interrogation, he reportedly led police to the exact spot where the body was concealed. The Army Police played a pivotal role in the breakthrough, providing the district police with access to vacant quarters and internal surveillance data that ultimately cracked the case.
