Margao: Leader of the opposition Yuri Alemao said he will table a draft Bill aimed at preventing indiscriminate conversion of agricultural lands and protecting Goa’s environment, during the forthcoming assembly session.Alemao on Monday received the draft legislation on behalf of the ‘Enough is Enough’ movement, which has been campaigning to safeguard the state’s agricultural landscape. The Bill also addresses concerns about demographic changes in the region. The proposed legislation was drafted by retired Allahabad high court chief justice Ferdino Rebello. It seeks stringent restrictions on land use and construction activities outside the 536.3sqkm settlement zone under Regional Plan 2021. Key provisions includes halting construction permissions beyond designated limits and nullifying approvals for hill cutting that violated the 2010 chief town planner guidelines.
