Kanpur: An elderly was killed and three people, including a pregnant woman, were seriously injured in an attack on Wednesday in a village under Kayamganj Kotwali area of Farrukhabad. The attack was allegedly triggered by an old enmity. Tension prevailed in the village after the incident, and a heavy police force and PAC were deployed.Police said that the elderly man, Suraj Singh’s nephew Sarvesh was returning after performing the traditional Holi ritual of Aakhat on Wednesday when some people allegedly surrounded him and beat him with sticks and batons. He managed to escape and reach home. Chasing him, the attackers allegedly barged into his house and assaulted the family. Four family members, including women, were seriously injured in the attack.Suraj died on the spot after he was struck on the head with a stick. His younger brother’s wife Meera Devi and Sarvesh’s wife Bitana Devi sustained serious injuries. All the injured were admitted to hospital for treatment. tnn
