Hussainiwala: Hundreds of youths and students formed a human chain at the Shaheedi Memorial here on Monday, demanding a national urban employment guarantee law and paying tribute to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day.The participants, under the banner of the “Banega” campaign, gathered at the memorial in Ferozepur and offered floral tributes before forming the chain as a mark of respect.The proposed Bhagat Singh National Urban Employment Guarantee Act, backed by student and youth organisations, seeks to ensure employment rights for urban youth.The programme was organised by Sarb Bharat Naujawan Sabha and the All India Students Federation (AISF). Participants wore T-shirts bearing Bhagat Singh’s image.The event was led by Sarb Bharat Naujawan Sabha state president Karamveer Kaur Baddhani and state secretary Charanjit Singh Chhanga Rai, along with AISF state president Raman Kumar Dharmuwala and state secretary Sukhwinder Singh Malout. Campaign chief adviser Jagrup Singh and former state secretary Kuldeep Bhola were also present.Addressing the gathering, speakers said the movement for a national employment guarantee law in Bhagat Singh’s name was launched from Hussainiwala in 2014 and has since gained support across the country.They also flagged concerns over shrinking job opportunities, citing the growing impact of artificial intelligence on traditional employment, and demanded a legal guarantee of jobs along with reduction in working hours from eight to six hours.
