Jaisalmer: The district administration Saturday seized the godown of Bharat Gas Agency in Jaisalmer after a supply dept team found serious irregularities in the distribution of commercial gas cylinders during a surprise inspection.Acting on the orders of district collector Pratap Singh, the team led by district supply officer Ramsingh Meena raided the agency’s godown near Sayra Fort Hotel and seized it after finding violations of rules. Ofifcials said the agency supplied commercial cylinders without prior permission from the district administration, in violation of state govt directives. Officials also found several irregularities in record maintenance, consumer details and gate pass-related documents. Major deficiencies were found in record maintenance, complete details of consumers were not available, and serious irregularities were found in gate pass-related documents as well. According to the supply dept, this was a clear case of flouting govt rules.Meena said the distribution of commercial gas cylinders in the district will now be carried out only with the permission of the district administration. tnn
